Rules and Regulations


1. General Information

Salcano Cappadocia Stage Race is a 3-day Cross Country Mountain Bike Race which is registered to UCI calendar as class S2.


The start of the first stage is on August 31, 2018 at 14:00 in Uçhisar city center. Salcano Cappadocia Stage Race consists of three race days with the following order;  individual cross country time trial (XCT), point to point (XCP) and Olympic cross country (XCO). The courses take place along the hills and valleys of the unique Cappadocia region, a UNESCO world heritage site.


The race will be held under the regulations of the UCI and the Turkish Cycling Federation.

2. Participation

Salcano Cappadocia Stage Race is open to all riders aged 19 or over who has a valid UCI license issued by a National Cycling Federation. Licenses will be checked by the organisation during the registration.

The national categories are listed below for the Turkish riders, who are not in elite category.


3. Registration

Only registered riders can participate to the event. Online registration at cappadociabikefestival.com web site closes on August 30, 2018.

A registration cannot be transferred, and organization will not allow another person to race on behalf of a registered participant.


4. Distribution of Race Numbers and Team Managers Meeting

All registered riders or their team managers should be ready at Team Managers Meeting on August 31, 2018 at 13:00 at the race office located at Uçhisar Meydanı. Race numbers will be distributed at same place between 08:00 to 12:00.


5. Race Start

Every rider should be at the start area 20 minutes before of each day's start for boxing and staging at the start line. Please see Program for start times.


6. Race Days and Courses

Day 1. Cross-country time trial - XCT

Short cross country course with climbs and technical descents.

Climb: 95+ m, Distance 2,5 km


Day 2. Cross-country point-to-point - XCP

Point to point cross country course passing through the valleys of Cappadocia, starting from Uçhisar city center and finishing at Uçhisar .

Total Climb: 795+ m, Distance 26,6 km.


Day 3. Cross-country Olympic - XCO

The course is located at Uçhisar, Turkey.

Climb Per Lap: 168+ m, Distance 4,55 km.


More detailed information regarding the courses can be found on our website http://cappadociabikefestival.com. The course will be available and fully marked for training 24 hours before the start of the first race. Training Schedule will be announced later.  


Admission to Feed/Technical Assistance zone is required accreditation passes. Access will be strictly controlled by commissaires and/or marshals. Accreditation passes can be collected at Race Office during the registrations.

  • Elite Men (19 and over)

  • Elite Women (19 and over)


National Categories

  • Junior Men 17-18

  • Junior Women 17-18

  • Masters Men 30-39 (M30+)

  • Masters Men 40-49 (M40+)

  • Masters Men 50+ (M50+)


8. Checkpoints, Time Limits and Overlapping

Day 2. XCP

Time limit is 30% of the leaders.


Day 3. XCO

The decision as to whether the 80% rule is to be applied will be decided by the president of the commissaires' panel and will be announced during Team Managers’ meeting.

9. Disqualification

The following actions lead to immediate disqualification from the race:

  • Not passing from any of the checkpoints.

  • Taking a short cut or using a vehicle.

  • Getting support (from someone who is not a rider of  the same UCI Elite MTB/National Team) outside of designated Feed/Technical Assistance Zone


10. Results

Information and results from the races will be posted on our website. The results will also be posted at the race office after the arrival of the last finisher.


11. Award Ceremony and Prizes

Awards ceremony will be held in each day after the race at the start/finish area.

Only UCI categories, Elite Men and Elite Women will receive prize money shown in below list according to their rankings. The currency of prize money is Euro.
